Colby's Crew Rescue is an organization that was founded in 2021 to rescue horses that are on the verge of being slaughtered. Once a horse arrives at the facility, it is thoroughly evaluated by veterinarians to assess its medical needs, injuries, and adoptability. Many horses require rehabilitation, physically and emotionally, before a home can be found for them. Colby's Crew Rescue provides proper nutrition, medical treatment, training, and plenty of rest.
For horses deemed unadoptable due to age, illness, or temperament, Colby's Crew Rescue becomes a lifelong sanctuary for them. Every decision is made in the horse’s best interest, prioritizing health, well-being, and long-term safety. Also, horses are evaluated not only for physical health and training needs, but also for personality and temperament. Matching horses with the right adopter is a high priority, as the goal is to create lifelong partnerships.
While Colby's Crew Rescue’s primary focus is on rescue and adoption, the organization also works to educate the public on the realities of horse ownership. Unlike dogs or cats, horses require more space, companionship, and financial investment. Many end up in the slaughter pipeline simply because their owners can no longer afford to care for them.
